Background-

Amazon.com Inc. has unveiled a new plugin letting independent sellers run their ecommerce businesses through AI assistants, aiming to simplify operations on its platform.

The tools, announced at Amazon’s annual seller conference Accelerate, include automations that monitor sellers’ businesses in the background and act on their behalf. An enhanced Seller Assistant tool can also track sellers’ pricing patterns and inventory cycles over time.

The plugin lets sellers check inventory levels, adjust prices and update listings using Anthropic PBC’s Claude or Amazon’s own assistant, Amazon Quick, removing the need to log into Seller Central.

Mary Beth Westmoreland, Amazon’s vice president of worldwide selling partner experience, said the company’s vision was for sellers to manage their stores entirely through AI assistants rather than Seller Central.

Amazon said connecting Claude or Quick to a seller account takes about 60 seconds. Once linked, the assistant can access listings, inventory details, sales analytics and performance metrics, then carry out actions within the account. Sellers retain control over which data the plugin can access and approve each action before it goes through. The plugin is in beta for US sellers, with international expansion planned in the coming weeks.

Amazon’s partnership with Anthropic comes as the company deepens its investment in the AI firm, which also powers the existing Seller Assistant. Additional integrations with other assistants are expected soon.

Seller Assistant is also gaining a canvas feature for strategy planning, and Amazon is offering sellers a free 12 month subscription to Amazon Quick Plus.
