Background-
Indonesia is moving to widen its higher education and science partnership with China, aiming to bring new technologies into everyday use faster, Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto said at the China-Southeast Asia Forum on Higher Education and Industry Cooperation in Bali.
Yuliarto said Indonesian universities and research bodies can build closer links with Tsinghua University. Both sides will team up on joint research, student and academic staff exchanges, talent development, and education and research programs.
The minister said tighter ties between universities and industry will match research with practical needs and push it into real-world projects sooner. He added that the model will also train specialists who hold the skills to work with modern technologies.
The Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center in Bali anchors this effort. It connects universities, government and business, and it serves as a venue for academic exchanges, talent development and joint projects. The forum gave leaders from higher education and industry a space to discuss how closer cooperation can drive innovation across the region.
Indonesia expects these links to advance its scientific and technological progress and to firm up cooperation with China and other countries in Southeast Asia.
