Background-

BDO has promoted more than 2,200 employees across its UK business, including 29 new partners in audit, tax, deals, consulting, risk and outsourcing. The promotions take effect from November 1.

The audit practice made the most promotions, with more than 1,200, and appointed ten partners. Sarah Kierstan, Daniel Pratt and Georgie Gaunt are among them. The tax practice promoted 315 employees and named seven partners, including Steph Carr and Olga Sweeney.

The consulting, risk and outsourcing division made 358 promotions and added four partners, including Andrew Hutton and Tristan Oorloff. The deals practice promoted 170 employees and appointed eight partners, among them Matthew McDevitt and Lorna Hopkinson. Central operations accounted for 176 further promotions.

Nearly one-third of the new partners work outside London. Women make up more than one-third of the appointments, as BDO works toward 30 percent female representation at partner level by the end of 2030.

The firm also recruited 525 trainees in September, including school-leaver apprentices, graduates and industrial placement students. More than one-quarter of its employees now take part in graduate, apprenticeship or industrial placement programs. Its social mobility and citizenship programs reached more than 8,200 young people this year through work experience, insight events and virtual careers initiatives.

Louise Sayers, head of People, Culture and Purpose at BDO, said the promotions recognize each person’s contribution to clients, colleagues and communities. “The success of our business is built on the expertise, ambition and commitment of our people,” she said.

Sayers added that opportunities should begin before young people enter the workplace, by helping them understand career paths and build confidence.
