Background

At its annual Made on YouTube event, the platform announced a range of new tools and updates designed to help creators grow and monetize their channels. Key Studio updates include auto dubbing, title A/B testing, an inspiration tab, and the open beta of “likeness” detection, which allows creators to identify and remove unauthorized videos using their facial likeness.

YouTube Live also received updates, including the ability to play minigames, broadcast in horizontal and vertical formats, AI-powered highlights, and a new side-by-side ad format that does not interrupt streams. AI highlights automatically turn the best moments from live streams into shareable Shorts.

For Shorts creators, YouTube introduced a custom version of Google’s Veo 3 called Veo 3 Fast. This lets creators apply motion to images, add styles, insert objects via text prompts, and convert dialogue into music using Google’s Lyria 2 AI. A new remixing tool and “Edit with AI” feature were also added.

YouTube Music updates include release countdowns, fan “thank you” videos, and a pilot program for exclusive merchandise drops in the U.S. AI tools will also help podcasters clip content, and a new feature next year will convert audio podcasts into video podcasts.

Monetization is enhanced with new brand deals, product tagging, Shopping integration, and auto timestamps. Shorts creators will have access to brand sites, and YouTube will recommend creators to become partners with the help of AI.

These changes emphasize the direction of YouTube in AI-driven content production, user interaction, and monetization, providing creators with the potent tools to expand their channels and gain new audiences.
