Background-

EthicalX, a Climate and Innovation Hub initiative from Clima Trust and SLYCAN Trust, has opened applications for its 2026 cohort and affiliate network, inviting entrepreneurs building ethical, sustainable and climate-friendly solutions to join a growing innovator community.

Sustainable entrepreneurship is gaining ground in Sri Lanka, and EthicalX helps early-stage businesses strengthen access to finance, mentorship, networks, technical expertise and market opportunities.

The initiative connects entrepreneurs with the public and private sectors and the wider innovation ecosystem to strengthen ties with policy and sustainable development.

Building on lessons from earlier cohorts, EthicalX will offer the new cohort a holistic support package shaped by entrepreneur needs, including financial support for selected ventures, with backing for lifestyle-focused entrepreneurs delivered alongside c.fuge.

Dennis Mombauer, Director of Research and Knowledge Management at Clima Trust, said EthicalX works to understand entrepreneurs’ opportunities and challenges while strengthening ties between entrepreneurs, policymakers and the private sector.

He said the initiative links practical experience with policy discussions to build stronger ecosystems for sustainable businesses and focuses on long-term relationships that help entrepreneurs grow their ideas.

Star Mushrooms co-founder Nimasha Perera said EthicalX delivered valuable connections and mentorship that supported her business journey. Eastern Soy Products’ Nilushi Thenuwara said the network sparked new collaborations, including one with a chef to develop new recipes.

The 2026 cohort will support entrepreneurs in sustainable food systems, fashion, lifestyle and creative communication. EthicalX started in Sri Lanka in 2022 and has since become a global initiative shaping entrepreneurship and climate policy worldwide.
