Background-
Telford-based aviation manufacturer Aviramp has earned a finalist spot at the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards 2026, following a stretch of strong international growth.
The company, known for manufacturing step-free aircraft boarding ramps, is competing for the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade International Expansion of the Year Award after significantly growing its overseas sales and global footprint.
Aviramp stands among nearly 200 finalists across 20 categories at the awards, backed by Lloyds Bank, with ITV as media partner and support from the UK government.
Chief executive Graham Corfield said the nomination marks an important milestone for the business and its team, calling it the icing on the cake of another strong year for Aviramp.
He noted close to 1,000 Aviramp ramps now operate around the globe, reflecting the company’s robust growth over recent years, and said the firm feels proud to represent Telford and Shropshire at the awards ceremony.
Founded in 2009, Aviramp has grown from a family-owned business into an international manufacturer of step-free aircraft boarding equipment, designing, manufacturing and installing ramps at airports worldwide.
More than 950 Aviramp units now operate across over 40 countries, supporting access for an estimated 50 million passengers each year. Sales have grown 68 percent since 2022, with overseas sales reaching £6.3 million last year. Major airline customers include Delta Air Lines, easyJet and American Airlines.
Amanda Murphy, chief executive of Lloyds Business and Commercial Banking, said the awards recognise companies showing ambition, innovation and determination, describing Aviramp as a company bringing new ideas, investing in its community and helping drive UK growth.
Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony at Grosvenor House in London later this year, with around 1,200 business leaders attending. Winners will also get the chance to ring the opening bell at the London Stock Exchange and attend an annual reception at the House of Commons.
