Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke has already said as much: any such demand from groups for more staff or more resources must first prove that a job cannot be performed by artificial intelligence (AI). This surprise, presented as an in-house company memo, is a radical change of strategy on the part of e-commerce giant AI from an operational efficiency and labor management perspective. It is a risk on the part of AI to imagine itself on its own, challenging the employees to envision automation as a first option and only consider classical staffing as an afterthought.

Lütke recounted that AI is the most rapid-paced work culture he has experienced and encouraged Shopify teams to instill AI deeply in workflows.
