Background
Google has rolled out its more affordable Google AI Plus plan to all global markets where its AI subscription services are available, including the United States. The company announced on Tuesday that the plan will cost $7.99 per month in the U.S., making advanced AI tools more accessible to a wider audience.
The expansion brings the AI Plus plan to 35 new countries and territories. Google first launched the plan in select markets last year, starting with Indonesia in September, before gradually expanding to other regions. The move marks a major step in Google’s strategy to attract users who want more features than free AI tools but do not wish to pay for higher-priced plans.
The Google AI Plus plan includes access to Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro through the Gemini app. Users also get Flow’s AI filmmaking tools and research and writing support via NotebookLM. In addition, the plan offers 200GB of cloud storage and allows subscribers to share benefits with up to five family members.
Google said existing Google One Premium 2TB subscribers will automatically receive all AI Plus benefits over the next few days, without any extra charge. This integration strengthens Google’s broader subscription ecosystem.
The plan was initially designed for emerging markets, where pricing remains lower than in the U.S. For example, Indian users pay ₹399, which is under $5 per month. Google positions AI Plus as an entry-level paid option below its AI Pro plan, which usually costs around $20 per month.
Google is offering a limited-time deal that gives new subscribers 50% off for the first two months. The company wants to compete directly with OpenAI’s $8-per-month ChatGPT Go plan and encourage more people to keep using its AI tools long term.
