Background-
Paul Renton, known as The Motor Broker, has joined Fleet Alliance’s Appointed Representative programme, adding business contract hire and salary sacrifice to the vehicle trading services he already offers.
Renton has worked in the motor trade since leaving school. He started in fleet and corporate roles, then launched his own transactional vehicle business in 2000.
He sold that business in 2020 and stepped back from the trade for several months before returning as an independent broker, spotting fresh opportunities in a market he described as disrupted.
Wanting to formalize his business further, Renton looked at three leasing brokers offering AR opportunities. He chose Fleet Alliance after speaking with existing Appointed Representatives and doing his own research. He pointed to the company’s status as a Best Workplace for Financial Services, its OEM terms, and its consulting software as key reasons for the decision.
Onboarded in May, Renton sold his first contract within a week and has supplied several vehicles since through Business and Personal Contract Hire. Renton pointed to AR Manager Terry Parker and the rest of the Fleet Alliance team as major contributors to his smooth transition, particularly on compliance and funding matters.
Based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, Renton builds his network through golf and business events, including a monthly session at Worksop Golf Club with Pro 5 Networking. He is also active with the local Chamber of Commerce. He said the broader range of services now available through Fleet Alliance strengthens his customer relationships and marks his shift from independent trader to a fully operational business.
